The Nokia X design team behind Bezel-less Proto Nokia id326-3 with HMD now

On our sister site WinCentral, we covered a 2014 Nokia prototype leak, that has futuristic edge to edge display and Bezel-less design.

When Microsoft under Satya Nadella announced big lay-offs in acquired Nokia D&S division, Stephen Elop announced plans to move some of the future Nokia X products to Lumia line.

In addition to the portfolio already planned, we plan to deliver additional lower-cost Lumia devices by shifting select future Nokia X designs and products to Windows Phone devices. We expect to make this shift immediately while continuing to sell and support existing Nokia X products.

Nokia id326-3, the proto in question and more low-end and even higher-end Nokia X family prototypes, which were to be converted to Lumia were eventually cancelled.

Now, as per a trusted source, many ex-Nokians laid-off by Microsoft, who were part of team working on Nokia X family of devices have joined HMD. There were phone designers, software engineers with deep Android experience and more who are back to home in HMD.

We have shared claimed design sketches of Nokia 8 and Nokia 9 and even a Nokia 9 render based on design sketches. Keeping in mind design prowess of Nokia X device family back in 2014, it doesn’t seem too difficult for HMD design team to bring out designs seen in the leaked sketches for Nokia 9.
