Dual-SIM Nokia 9 variant TA-1004 seen at FCC. Display size, LTE bands & SD card support revealed

Nokia 9 may be headed for a sooner than expected unveil if its appearances in certifications are anything to go by. After clearing EA Union and Bluetooth certifications, it has now stopped by at FCC, the USA certification authority. TA-1004, the most leaked variant of Nokia 9 is the one that has passed FCC certification now.

What the FCC certification reveals is that Nokia 9 will have a 5.3-inch display (Check the antenna diagram above that shows display size of 134.65 mm) and TA-1004 will be a Dual-SIM variant. This eventually means that TA-1012 that was paired with TA-1004 in EA Union certification will be the Single-SIM variant.

It will come with Dual SIM Dual Standby feature. The testing also involves use of a MicroSD card revealing that Nokia 9 will support storage extension with help of a MicroSD card.

This device has 2 SIM slots and supports Dual SIM Dual Standby. The WWAN radio transmission will be enabled by either one SIM at a time (Single active).
Nokia 9’s TA-1004 variant supports following LTE Bands,

LTE Band 2
LTE Band 4
LTE Band 5
LTE Band 7
LTE Band 38 /41

5 inches is the perfect size for a smartphone. But, it has to have a Super AMOLED display.

I see all these articles saying they have american ambitions for the Nokia 9 but based on these bands I don’t see it. AT&T’s main LTE band is 17, they don’t list that. Verizon’s main LTE band is 13, they don’t list that either. T-Mobile’s main bands are 4 and 12, they only support band 4 though. And Sprint has 25 and that special TD-LTE band on 41, and they only support 41 on the nokia. For a phone to work well with a carrier it should support all their LTE bands, not just one, let alone one that’s not the main band. Plus no CDMA support rules out Sprint, Verizon, and US Cellular unless you want an LTE-only phone. What US carriers will this even work well on? I had such high expectations for this phone but I don’t think I’ll ever have a signal with this.

Was really hoping for CDMA support and LTE 13 for verizon. disappointed..

A 15,1cm tall phone but a 5.3″ screen? Yeah, my current S7 is 14,2cm with a 5.1″ screen. So not going to replace it with an even bigger phone but barely any extra screen.

Quite honestly the more I see about this Nokia 9 the more I’m sure I’m not going to buy it. As far as I’m concerned, HMD is doing a terrible job in delivering true Nokia phones.

No. Let us folks who want smaller displays have something. All flagships are 5.5 inches. People also want a 5 inch flagship.

You have enough options already 😐

      • mehmet
