The comeback can be termed successful considering the odds that HMD has to face being a startup with the responsibility to carry an iconic brand. While HMD has not revealed the number of Nokia Android smartphones sold yet our own analysis and statistics provided by likes of IDC put the number sold in H2 2017 at around 1.5 million.

Another major analyst firm Strategy Analytics believes that Nokia (HMD) will be one of the main vendors to drive the growth of smartphone shipments through 2018. As per their forecast, in the year 2018 smartphone shipments will grow by 5%.
Apple and Chinese vendors, including Huawei, OPPO, Xiaomi, vivo, Transsion and Lenovo-Motorola etc., as well as Nokia (HMD) will be among the main vendors driving growth through 2018, with their 4G LTE products portfolios across multiple segments.
Strategy analytics puts HMD in the company of all current major smartphone vendors like Apple, Huawei, Vivo and more that are supposed to drive smartphone growth. This kind of confirms that HMD has been able to win the faith of many industry watches in a short span of one year.
