You understand the real value of Nokia’s Here offline Maps & Navigation, when?

On my way to Wayanad, one of the top tourist destinations in South India, I could test both Here Maps and Google Maps yet again. In many zones, we were stuck without data connection. Above is a screenshot from Here Maps, and Here Drive works like charm. Below stuck screenshot from Google tells you why offline maps and navigation may be a life-saver in such situations.

I would enjoy it, if there wasn’t so many flaws on El Salvador’s map, I tried to fix it, but they never update Here with the data changes I made, like they don’t really care about my help… That’s sad.

I have reached to HERE with your feedback. Let us see what they come back with.

  • Yep… And it was the reason that my Mum purchased the Nokia 930 because of this off-line feature (At that point HERE was only available on Windows Phone)
Australia is so vast with large areas that are unpopulated that these areas don’t have any phone/data connections available.
Can’t wait for HERE Android to come out of Beta so I can put it on my work phone (Although I do wish that Windows was able to keep HERE exclusive to themselves for their phones)
Thanks for the informative posts with your new 830.
    Cheers Adam

  • But the coverage of by-ways and small roads in non-urban places like these is almost zero in Nokia Maps(as you can see from the screen-shots). But google, when a connexion is available, is more equipped in that area.

  • Enjoy your outing 😉 Offline maps are definitely a life saver, especially in India where data connections are still crazy.
