Nokia Feature phones are seeing strong demand in many markets globally. IDC has shared some Q3 2017 insights for the Middle East handset market that they call GCC. The key takeaway from the report is strong demand for Nokia feature phones driving the overall feature phone market growth in Middle East.
In fact, smartphones have seen a decline in shipments by 4.9% QoQ in Q3 2017. But riding on the strong demand for new Nokia feature phones feature phone shipments registered a 13.0% increase QoQ in Q3.
Shipments of smartphones declined 4.9% QoQ during the quarter, but this was offset by a 13.0% increase in feature phone shipments, which helped deliver a semblance of stability to the overall mobile phone market. Strong demand for Nokia’s new range of feature phones was the main driving force behind the growth seen in this segment during Q3 2017.
Nokia was the top feature phone vendor with 90.8% share of the feature phone market. It increased its feature phone shipments by 18.3% QoQ.
Nokia dominated the feature phone category in Q3 2017, increasing its shipments 18.3% QoQ to account for 90.8% share of the GCC market.
That Nokia Phones are driving growth everywhere has been confirmed by a recent report from Taiwan that reveals that strong demand for Nokia Phones made Foxconn, the top ODM manufacturer in Q3 2017. The report also claimed that Nokia Phone’s demand has remained strong in Q4 2017.
Many Market share reports released recently confirm the initial success that HMD is enjoying. We last reported about Nokia brand making a comeback to top rankings in terms of handset sales performance in many markets like Germany, Middle East, Russia, the UK, Indonesia, and India. Globally it is back to the 8th handset vendor rank in Q3 2017.
Industry watchers like Strategy Analytics are also showing confidence in HMD’s strategy by betting Nokia Phones to one of the drivers of smartphone shipment growth in 2018. Google published the list of the 10 most searched consumer devices in 2017 and the new Nokia 3310 rode the tide of nostalgia to climb to 6th rank while Nokia 6 the first Nokia Android smartphone launched by HMD was at the 10th position in terms of searches.
