HMD’s 1st B’Day: Nokia brand back to top rankings in many markets, says CounterPoint

HMD Global responsible for bringing Nokia name back to the world of smartphones is celebrating its 1st birthday today. And the good news just started pouring in. CounterPoint research has revealed that within one year of its inception HMD global has been able to bring Nokia brand back to top rankings in many markets.

As per a tweet from Neil Shah, Partner at CounterPoint, Nokia brand is the top phone + smartphone brand in the Middle East, holds 3rd rank in Russia and the UK, 4th rank in Indonesia and 5th rank in India. Globally it is back to the 8th rank.

On asking further we came to understand that market ranks of Nokia phones are according to the mobile phone ranking estimates for Q3 2017 from CounterPoint research.

HMD has started well in a highly-saturated market and in its very first year, it has amped up the buzz around the powerful Nokia brand.

    Impressive first year. Have covered all sectors from basic feature phones to affordable flagship. Hopefully the Nokia 9 will give a flagship with the wow factor. If they can improve on customer support then all will be good. Have been pleased with my Nokia 3310 and Nokia 8.
