HMD clarifies on Carl-Zeiss on Nokia Phones, Snake on other S30+, VOLTE (Jio) support for Nokia 3, 5 and 6

Our readers have been asking us many question time and again about the recently announced Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 3310. There have also been some murmurs about Carl-Zeiss not finding a place on Nokia Android Phones. So, we reached to HMD communications team to ask few questions and get some answers.

Carl-Zeiss on Nokia Phones:

It was inferred from a Tweet by Nokia Mobile Twitter account that HMD will not use Carl-Zeiss optics on Nokia Android Phones. HMD team told us that it was meant for only officially announced Phones Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. So, that leaves option of Carl-Zeiss open on future Nokia Android Flagships.

Snake on other S30+ Phones:

Nokia 3310 (2017) comes pre-loaded with Snake game developed by Gameloft. Our readers asked us and we asked HMD whether it will ever come to other S30+ devices. But sadly it is not happening. HMD Team also reminded us that Snake Xenzia developed by another company is available on Nokia 150.

VoLTE support (Reliance Jio VoLTE support):

While HND Team confirms that Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 has VoLTE support, they also declined to confirm same for a specific operator like Reliance Jio in India. As per their communication, it needs to be tested for a particular operator before confirming.

Microsoft owns all the Nokia phone tech including glance, double tap & camera tech.

Nokia owns all the patents behind all these lovely techs and is still licensing them to Microsoft. This may not be the price point HMD plans to push these features on.

You asked about Nokia Glance Screen and Double tap to wake functions?

    • Kamal

      No idea yet

Probably, although MEO tends to be the one with the largest Nokia mobile offer.

    • DBS

Vodafone is British but yes, all our mobile operators here will likely get them. But seriously José…buy the phone on the Spanish or German Amazon. It will cost you much less and the warranty will still be valid as they are European warranties 😉

Nokia 7 with Carl Zeiss against Moto Z Play, it would be an epic battle.

Sounds quite interesting, but may be only Flagships get it.
