Exclusive: Nokia D1C to come in two variants with different RAM, Camera, Display specs

We last reported about Nokia D1C specs including its display size that was supposed to be 5.5-inch. Now we have some more exclusive information about Nokia D1C, which is quite interesting.

Nokia D1C variants:

It seems that Nokia D1C will come in two variants with different RAM / Camera / Display size configurations. Cheaper of the two variants will pack 2 GB RAM, 5-inch 1080p display and will have a 13 MP rear shooter. The second variant will pack 3GB RAM, 5.5-inch 1080 display and a 16 MP rear shooter. This again comes from one of our reliable sources and protos of these two different variants are already under testing.

Rendered Images of two variants of an upcoming Nokia device had leaked in China earlier. And we have reasons to believe that these renders represent Nokia D1C closely.

Please tell me they will release flagship as well

If these come out Q2/17, let’s hope these specs are false. If they are true, it would put these devices squarely in the low and low/mid category. 4GB of RAM is the Android flagship standard for 2016 with a handful of devices seeing 6GB and if rumors are true, we might see 8GB on the Galaxy S8 in March/April of next year and while RAM has never been a big aspect of iPhones, expect the next iPhone to have at least 4GB as well. Maybe NOKIA is just trying to get their feet wet again with this new HMD/Foxconn structure before releasing an all-out flagship but I think it would serve them better to produce their best phone as their first entry on Android and make as large a splash as possible.

It’s clearly not supposed to be a flagship phone. I really hope they will release another on with a better processor

If these specs pan out, they’re likely for smartphones aimed at market like India and Africa.
In markets like Europe these would sink faster than the Titanic unless they cost 100€.

I don’t think the S8 will come with 8GB of RAM, but if anything Nokia should be taking the S7 as the reference device to beat in the flagship space and not forget that Samsung will be throwing everything and the kitchen sink into the S8 after the debacle of the Note 7.
I agree that Nokia/HMD shouldn’t be shy on their return. In fact, if they don’t return with a BANG! they won’t be able to return at all.
The standards on Android set by the S7 in the flagship space and the Honor 8 on the mid-ranger space are way too high for phones with the sort of specs reported here.

(I don’t expect the iPhone to come with 4GB of RAM. In fact, the iPhone 7S will be just an incremental upgrade as usual. It’s the 10th year of the iPhone but Apple isn’t known for celebrating milestones)
