Update:
Joe Belfiore has rejected these speculations and says that both services are in fact due for bigger updates in just a couple of weeks.
Don’t worry, no plan to drop Xbox Music/Video– my team builds these key scenarios for tablets, phones, PCs! And Xbox team does on console.

Microsoft’s Summer cleaning has already taken its toll on 18000 employees, Nokia X, Asha and Nokia Feature Phones, services like Nokia MixRadio, Xbox entertainment studio and even on the Windows Phone Flagship McLaren. Now, a statement from Satya Nadella during Q2 earnings call has led many to speculate that even Xbox Music and Xbox Video may be heading towards similar fate.
Satya had said,
With our decision to specifically focus on gaming, we expect to close Xbox entertainment studios and streamline our investments in music and video. We will invest in our core console gaming in Xbox live with a view towards the broader PC and mobile opportunity.
So, what exactly this ‘streamlining our investments in music and video’ means? Seems, The specific focus on gaming may come at a cost to Xbox Music and Xbox Video services. If this actually happens, it is hardly surprising to note that Microsoft didn’t see a value in retaining Nokia MixRadio.
