Ramzi Haidamus, the President of Nokia Technologies, the devices and new technologies arm of new Nokia has spoken about Nokia’s yet to be launched business Digital Health for the very first time in an interview. Digital Health is the business area that will cater to Wearable and Wellness needs of customers. Ramzi not only confirmed about Nokia hotly pursuing it but also believes that Nokia’s Brand suits Digital Health business because of its image of solid and reliable brand.

We’re also looking at another area where we have not launched any products—digital health. Digital health is something that comes very natural to Nokia. It’s a brand that’s known for a solid, reliable brand. A lot of research is happening right now in the field of digital health.

Nokia never talked about Digital Health earlier, but we have in fact reported a lot about Nokia’s Health & Well-Being and Consumer Wearables ambitions. We even revealed that Nokia is planning to venture into “Patient Care”, Health and Wellness business of connected health products.

Ramzi has also talked about Digital Media business, of which we have seen the first promising product in Virtual Reality area. Yes we are referring to Nokia OZO here, the VR camera by Nokia. Now, it seems Nokia is looking to partner the likes of Samsung, HTC and Facebook to grow the Digital Media business.

My first project is to grow the digital media business and become a leader in virtual reality. We’re trying to make entertainment as real as it can be. It’ll take a cultural change on the part of the company to take us from a solo player to a collaborative player because we’ll have to partner with many companies outside of our comfort zone. We’ll need partners like Facebook FB 0.39% , HTC, Samsung and Fox studios. It’s about survival more than anything. You cannot play in this world anymore without partnering—whether you’re small or large.
