WhatsApp is believed to be working on a new feature that will send notification alert to your contacts in case you decide to change your registered phone number. However, the company may let users to set the privacy settings for such change and it turns out that you can either set it to ‘all contacts’ or the ‘recent chats’.
We will see whether there is any option to completely hide it once the feature is official. One could guess the feature will work side by side with the security notifications one receives when any of the contacts reinstall WhatsApp on his/her phone, since end-to-end encryption kicks in and greatly impacts the privacy of your messages, media, or calls etc.
