Nokia Tablet variant RX-114 which was caught by us on GFXBench has now passed through FCC confirming its status as the to be launched variant of the Tablet. It has both AT&T and Verizon’s LTE bands. Though no CDMA bands compatibility still makes it more of an AT&T bound device and we have heard about many other variants RX-113, RX-115, Rx-116.

Nokia though has done good work in hiding some details so we couldn’t get the size specs this time, but anyways the “Tablet” word is well mentioned.

Also, battery and Smart Cover are mentioned in the filing. Battery is BC-3S which surprisingly is available to be bought online at many retail stores and 1000s are in stock. This is a li-ion notebook Battery with 2030 mAH capacity only compatible with Nokia :).

Updated:

As explored by SinghNSK, the Battery entry seems from 2012/07 and that brings back the cancelled original Nokia WinRT Tablet which was supposed to come by end of 2012. Anyways, I also believe the 2030 mAH capacity is not sufficient and it may belong to the SmartCover which will have some juice as indicated by our sources earlier.

  • Rest aside, I wonder why the battery is already available in the market. I checked some pics and label mentioned a date of 2012/07. So was the tablet about to be unveiled last year and was postponed afterwards?
Looking around, I couldn’t find any other product which uses the same battery. The Netbook 3G used BC-1S as its battery. BC-3S turns out to be a non-removable type of battery which never appeared in any Nokia product, so why has it been here since 2012? :-O

When Netbook came with a 3800 mAh battery and 1520 is expected to take it to the 3000 range as well, I think the BC-3S won’t remain at just 2030 mAh. It might be just that Nokia kept the same dimensions and size but improved the capacity of battery through some other technical changes. It is sure to carry somewhere near 3000 mAh (just as the BL-4U rose from around 1000 mAh to 1200 mAh but keeping same dimensions) or else it will be too less to power a tablet.
