Two good news to share from Sri Lankan market!! For one, the latest Nokia smartphone Nokia 6.1 Plus has been launched in Sri Lanka on August 31 and with this Sri Lanka has become one of the earliest markets apart from India to get it.

Another good news coming from Sri Lanka is about Nokia rising to 3rd top smartphone brand rank in Sri Lankan market. This was shared by HMD Global Thailand and Emerging Asia General Manager Sandeep Gupta.

Nokia had captured 10.8% market share, and as of date, it has comfortably emerged number three, trailing behind Huawei and Samsung. The fight for the third place was fought between Nokia and Oppo.

“Since March, our market share has risen to 13-14%, and in Sri Lanka, we are among the top three smartphone brands. Sri Lanka is an extremely important market, and we are very happy with our achievement so far,” Gupta told the media at the launch of Nokia’s latest 6.1 plus mid-tier smartphone, few weeks after its global launch.

HMD has sold over 70 million phones globally in the year 2018 so far. As per a recent market share report from CounterPoint Research, Nokia smartphone shipments saw growth in Q2 2018 to 4.5 million units as compared to 4 million shipments in Q1 2018.
