Native MKV support confirmed for Windows 10 for Phones

Windows 10 8.15When we got confirmation about FLAC support coming to Windows 10 for Phones then we had wondered about MKV support too, considering the fact that MKV support was added platform wide and is already available on Windows 10 Desktop. But with Microsoft you can never be sure enough and now good news is that MKV support for Windows 10 for Phones gets confirmed.

We had included native FLAC and MKV support in our Windows 10 expected features list, before Windows 10 for Phones was officially unveiled. Reason is quite simple, Windows 10 Desktop already had it and the underlying OS core being the same, we thought it will be present in Windows 10 for Phones too.

Thanks Nate for the tip. Cheers!!

MS support .mkv? so what does mean MS support piracy? Don’t you know most all piracy movie come with .mkv formats? Even Adobe never support that container.

  • Flac is good. But mkv container support is useless without aac/ac3/dolbydigital codecs. What about these codecs in videocontainers?

Sure, it’s cool. But it’s also nice to have them built-in 😉
