In an “AMA” at Conversations PureView imaging experts Juha and Eero have revealed details about imaging improvements Lumia Cyan brings to Lumia 1520, Lumia Icon and also Lumia 930.
- Much better low light performance
- Better colors
- Continuous autofocus comes to Lumia 630, Lumia 1520, Lumia Icon, and Lumia 930
- Better video quality
- Even the raw images will look better because the sensor will be used in more clever way.
- Improved shot to shot time somewhat in the new Nokia camera and better camera roll
- The creative studio is completely rewritten and it has new filters, and non-destructive editing.
Living images:
- Living images are a cool feature that Lumia Cyan will bring to only Lumia 1520, Icon and 930. As per Juha, If one removes the .thm extension of these files, you can see these as videos, because they are normal .mp4 files.
- The new Storyteller has feature called story sharing that allows you to share the living images as a video.
Update:
We can understand that most of you would be frustrated with new imaging algorithms making it only to Lumia 1520, Lumia Icon and Lumia 930 with Lumia Cyan. Juha has tried to explain in his tweets that the new imaging algorithms are meant to improve the camera / processor combo which is common to three latest flagships. Other devices will get new Nokia Camera app, Creative Studio and Storyteller.
Lumia 1520, Icon and 930 will also get new imaging algorithms because they are specific to the camera/engine combination (2/2).
