In an interview to Gulf News, Per Ekman, Vice-President for Middle East and North Africa at HMD Global has emphasized that they along with strategic partners Foxconn, Nokia and Google are here for long run.
HMD is the entity trusted to bring Nokia Phones and Tablets to market in partnership with Foxconn. It has unveiled Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 at MWC 2017 and will launch it in 120 markets in one go.
Not only HMD is planning to make a lasting impact with Nokia Android Phones in long run but it also seems that they are running in a close partnership with Google.
“We and Google will jointly enhance the Nokia brand to put the right kind of inputs into the phone, including Google Assistant,” Ekman said.
May be Google realizes the potential of Nokia brand for furthering its Android ambitions. Samsung has long been the de-facto Flagship brand to carry Android on its smartphones and with a strong brand like Nokia entering into arena, Google has finally the leverage against Samsung. So, it may be helping HMD in enhancing and re-establishing Nokia brand in smartphones.
