HMD has now made Android Q Beta 5 update available for Nokia 8.1 over the air (OTA). This makes the installation of Android Q easier and many more Nokia 8.1 users would now take the dive including yours truly. Trust us to post the first hands-on video of Nokia 8.1 running Android Q soon.
We recently curated a list of eligible Nokia smartphones that may get Android Q when HMD starts pushing it.
As we write this article the OTA update is already downloading on our Nokia 8.1. The update is 1540.6 MB in size. Though this update comes with July Security update it installs just fine on Nokia 8.1 running August Security update.
How to install & other details:
You can just click on the link provided below and enroll in the developer program for getting the Android Q developer preview. Just keep in mind it can be a bit rough ride.
You should be aware that this will result in data loss from your device, as you will have to start from scratch post the Android Q installation, so first get all important data backed-up. Check our back-up tutorial here. You can check our restore tutorial in case you want to restore your data post the update installation.
In case you are facing issues and want to roll-back to Android Pie you can go to the same page and do a roll-back OTA.
We recently shared videos of two new features brought by the Android Q Beta 5 that you can check out by clicking here.
