We reported about a host of big corporates including Apple, Amazon, Alibaba, Facebook, Uber, BMW & Daimler interested in Nokia’s HERE business.
It seems there is a section of potential buyers that is putting pressure on Nokia against selling HERE to US-based firms like Facebook, Uber. Consortium of German carmakers Audi, BMW and Daimler is also bidding for HERE and they are existing customers of HERE too. A report claims that they have threatened with terminating contracts and moving to some other map-maker, if Nokia goes ahead with selling HERE to Facebook and Uber or for that reason any other company.
In the takeover battle for Nokia’s Kartendienstleister here, the German premium car manufacturer threatened with termination of their business relationship. For the case that a branchenfremder bidder such as Facebook or uber of new owner is and thus not the bidding consortium from Audi, BMW and Daimler, the company consider switching to a different service provider. That said a person familiar with the project in an interview with Dow Jones Newswires. Main customers include the German automaker to heres.
But the pressure exerted by the premium manufacturer Nokia, underscores the buying interest of German companies on here. With views of automated and networked drive, data and software services are regarded as future business in the automotive industry. This would leave the automaker not only American technology companies, as their leaders repeatedly stressed. About the quality of data for navigation systems competing for car buyers is also increasingly important.
Thanks Manu for the tip. Cheers!!
