Well-known analytics Firm, Strategy Analytics has released its smartphones market share report for the period of Q1 2018 and the report has some good news for HMD, Nokia and Nokia fans. As per the data shared with Finnish site “Tekniikkatalous”, 4.1 million Nokia smartphones were sold in January-March period for the 9th smartphone vendor rank globally.

The Q1 sales volume seems slightly lower than 4.4 million Nokia smartphones shipped in Q4 2017. But while Nokia was 11th top smartphone vendor in Q4 2017 as per a report from Counterpoint Research, the rank has improved by 2 positions in Q1 2018. One must also keep in mind that the volume sold can be different from the shipped volume because the latter tracks shipments from manufacturer and the former actually sold volume to end customer.

Also, as per Strategy Analytics report 4.1 million units sold account for 1.2% market share in Q1 2017 while the sales share was only 0.9% in Q4 2017. So, this means Nokia smartphones not only improved vendor ranking but also sold more in terms of percentage of overall smartphone sales in Q1 2018.

As per the report, Nokia smartphones are doing well in India and European markets. With Nokia 1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 2018, Nokia 8 Sirocco becoming available in Q2 2018 we may see a further push in the sales number in the second quarter of 2018.
