It is back to square one for Nokia and its Digital Health business aspirations and for Withings too; that will again spring back to life. Nokia has sold off its Digital Health business that it had re-branded from Withings to Nokia Health to Eric Carreel, co-founder and former chairman of Withings.

Now, in a FAQ, Nokia Health has clarified that Nokia Health will be re-branded as Withings by end of the year. You can check all FAQs here.

Will the brand be changing to Withings?

The teams at Withings will continue selling Nokia digital health products throughout the world. As far as the Withings brand is concerned, Eric Carreel wishes its come back by the end of the year, via a new cycle of innovations.

Sadly, Nokia has decided to move out from consumer space and wants to just focus on its licensing business.

Nokia announced plans to sell Digital Health on May 2, 2018, following a review of strategic options for the business. The sale is part of Nokia’s honed focus on becoming a business-to-business and licensing company.

The licensing businesses of Nokia Technologies are not affected by the sale.

A letter from Eric Carreel throws more light on the situation and what is next for Withings & Nokia Health devices owners.

A letter from Eric Carreel

To our community,

Two years ago, Withings—the pioneering connected health company I co-founded in 2008 with Cédric Hutchings—joined Nokia. Since this time, the digital health business has made significant progress, releasing new products and applications.

Today, I am pleased to announce that I have purchased Nokia’s connected health business.

My ambition is to continue to expand on my original mission: to help people take care of their health via cutting-edge connected objects and services that integrate simply and elegantly into their lives. We know that by providing easy and enjoyable access to unique health indicators, and helping people understand how they can take action, we can help to prevent certain chronic diseases and improve health worldwide.

Since its inception, Withings has been synonymous with award-winning innovation and design. To build on this tradition of quality, I will prepare the return of the Withings brand by the end of the year—a goal that is at the heart of a strategy focused on innovation that aims to surprise, delight, and above all, help our users achieve optimal health and wellness.

To help with this mission, I am pleased to report that I will be working with the same multidisciplinary team that I had the honor to co-build—the same team that has been at your service since the launch of the world’s first connected scale.

Finally, I want to thank you for being on this journey with us. I assure you, whether you have been with us for one day or throughout the years, your digital health products and services will continue to be supported.

Stay tuned — we look forward to sharing these innovations with you.

Best regards,
