Withings Steel HR, that may soon be re-branded as Nokia Steel HR has been a successful product, claimed Nokia CEO during Nokia Q1 2017 Earnings Call. Talking about the Q1 results, CEO Rajeev Suri revealed that Steel HR, the first analog Smartwatch with activity tracking enjoyed excellent sales.
During the quarter, we also announced our plans to transition the Withings brand to Nokia, and saw excellent sales of the Withings Steel HR activity tracker and heart rate monitor. And of course, I think it would have been hard to miss the excitement around the launch of Nokia-branded phones by our partner HMD Global. Not only do we get the benefit of low-risk brand licensing revenue from HMD Global, but we also expect their marketing spend to have a positive impact on the Nokia brand.
Withings Steel HR, the first connected analog health watch with heart rate monitoring is the recipient of a CES 2017 Innovation Award in the Biotech, Sports and Fitness category.
While Nokia didn’t reveal individual sales numbers for Steel HR, the Q1 earnings reveal that EUR 16 million were contributed by Digital Health and Digital Media businesses. Nokia Technologies business which has consumer products like Steel HR and also has brand-licensing for Nokia Phones ushered in operating profit of EUR 116 million.
