Xiaomi took the internet by storm when it first announced the POCO F1. The device on paper sounds like a flagship disruptor at an affordable price. If we look at the price point of the Nokia 8.1 and the POCO F1, a comparison between the two is perhaps a little humiliating to the POCO F1 considering how nicely it packs flagship killer hardware at a low price point.
If we take the price disparity out of the equation, Nokia 8.1 vs POCO F1 looks one hell of a rivalry. However, not every smartphone is great at everything no matter what the specifications suggest. This holds true for the 8.1 as well as the POCO F1.
Nokia 8.1 vs POCO F1 Plus: Price
The POCO F1comes with a price tag of Rs. 19,999 while Nokia 8.1 asks for Rs. 26,999. However, on the purchase of any one of the two, there get some discounts which cut down the effective price.
Airtel pre-paid customers with Nokia 8.1 enjoy up to 1TB of data plus, there is also a 10 percent extra discount from HDFC bank. Moreover, as promised, HMD in partnership with Servify takes care of your screen if it gets damaged within the first six months from the date of purchase.
Its rival in association with Reliance Jio also has freebies. A Jio sim insertion into the POCO F1 guarantees you up to 6GB of 4G data plus there are other discounts and voucher.
Nokia 8.1 vs POCO F1 Plus: Display and Design
In theory, both the smartphone should produce the same result but here Nokia 8.1 has an edge over the F1 which is not at all surprising given the former has support for HDR 10 backed by PureDisplay technology. Both the display features a 6.18” IPS LCD with a screen resolution of 1080x2246.
Xiaomi’s F1 does not even come close to the 8.1 when it comes to the design and style. And now since we are talking about the design it is important to mention the glass body design of Nokia 8.1 and it is perhaps the single setback for the device but unlike the 6.1 Plus here you find a metal stripe around the edge. Its rival F1 sports a plastic body. Otherwise, both of them rocks a notch design and have Gorilla Glass for screen protection.
Nokia 8.1 vs POCO F1 Plus: Camera
With the 8.1, you can capture way better images than the F1, thanks to a slight bump in the pixel count, Zeiss lens, and implementation of techniques like EIS and OIS. The former has a dual set up at the back. We are talking 12MP+13MP with LED flash, backed by Zeiss optics at the back side, and a cool 20MP single set up at the front for taking selfies. You also find bothie here in this smartphone.
On the flip side, the POCO F1 even with flagship specs couldn’t match the 8.1. The good thing about the F1 is, it does not want to participate in ‘Best camera on a budget’ competition. It has has a dual set up at the back side, 12MP+5MP with LED flash, at the front you have 20MP like the 8.1.
Nokia 8.1 vs POCO F1 Plus: Performance and battery
Xiaomi’s POCO F1 managed to grab all the attention, the reason being its ability to perform as good as a flagship which costs almost three times the price of F1. It is powered by the SD845 chipset, eight core and Adreno 630 to handle the graphics.
Nokia 8.1 with the Octa-Core SD710 manages to produce good results but obviously does not come close to the performance of the POCO F1. To handle graphics the 8.1 has an Adreno 616.
Battery backup is insane in the POCO F1. With a 4000mAh non-removable battery Xiaomi promises up to 15 days of standby time which equals an up to 30 hrs & 45 mins of talk time. 8.1 on the other hand, with the 3500 mAh battery serves the purpose if you don’t count yourself as a smartphone addict.
