Lumia 1020 goes on pre-order in India for a disappointing price of Rs 49999 ( USD 810).

Someone has gone seriously crazy at Nokia India. Lumia 1020 goes on pre-order for a bank breaking price of just Rs 49999 which converts to USD 810. Nokia, are you kidding me?

Anyways that forces even me to postpone my purchase of my next Nokia, till the time pricing gets saner. If you are still interested in pre-ordering the device, then expect a October 3rd week release.

  • It’s about the same price as Nokia Lumia 1020 in Singapore. It seems the unlocked price for the 1020 is about US$800-900 depending on local currency exchange against the dollar.

Yup, but the prices have been slashed in both US and China and thus it makes no sense of such a steep launch price months after release in other markets….

But with this amount who would buy it in India, for this this price people will go for Iphone 5 coz most people think iphone is the ultimate hence the price. I would better buy it from US through my friend!!!

India mein flop hai ye tab toh.. 50,000 ka , kuch bhi!! 38-40 ka range expected tha..

Kya yaar, saare armanon me pani fer diya, nai khareed sakta ab.. 🙁

    • High initial pricing helps a lot in covering expenses of promotion. It’ll come down soon 🙂
1 month is all you need 😀 Maybe the price after the preorder will come down as well 🙂

Promotion toh hua hi nahi india me abhi tak, launch ke baad se..!

Yaar kuch bhi ho, 40 ke upar ka sense nai hai.. Ye model pakka flop yahan pe.. iphone 5c 45,000 ka estimated hai..! :p

        • Bhai abhi to availability hi nahi hai to promotion ka kya fayda.. Bt samsung bhi aise hi karta hai.. Initial price = high aur then price ko buri tarah gira deta hai 😛

Nevermind.. It is only going to appeal people looking for decent camera phone aur wo log itna spend kar hi denge.. Vaise price hight o hai.. bt i think k neeche bhi aa jaega.. Lumia 625 ko hi dekh lo.. 19000 se ab 15-16k ka bik raha hai 😛

You are right, the price will come down.. They have only 2 1/2 months until year end so they should have a big sale to clean up inventory before the deal is finalized. They will also want to hit big numbers in sales for the PR (they meaning Microsoft). This is going to be the best time ever to load up on Nokia products, phones and accessories. I paid $825 usd for my N9, traded it and the E7 in for the 1020. I’m thinking of selling the 920 and getting the phablet.
