Anyways, Engadget and Verge are the first ones coming up with reviews of the device. While Verge has given decent score of 8.1 to the device they have scored the 41 MP monster cam full 10 (anything less and there could have been many questions asked 🙂 ).

Engadget concludes,

If taking fabulous glamour shots are that important to you, the decision to switch (or not to switch) has never been so difficult.

Camera obviously has received accolades that it deserves. Apart from excelling in daylight images, both reviews talk about never before seen low-light imaging quality. Engadget is particularly impressed with its video capture ability opining,

We were impressed by how smoothly the camera was able to handle jostling, shaky hands and a little panning. While phones with 1080p video capture are a dime a dozen in this industry, very few actually do a good job of making you feel like you’re actually watching a high-def video; fortunately, the 1020 is one of those few.

Even the rich-recording got the accolades it deserved with The Verge saying,

The new mic picked up clean, audible sound at a very loud concert, did a great job of cancelling subway sound while I shot videos on the way to and from the show.

Talking about overall camera performance, Verge even rates it higher than 808. Only, grudge we have is, how could one take the name of iPhone 5 in the same breath as 808 and Lumia 1020 :P.

But don’t let that dissuade you: this is by leaps and bounds the best cameraphone ever made. It’s more flexible than the Lumia 920, more impressive than the iPhone 5, even more accurate and vibrant than the 808 PureView.

Anyways apart from Camera, Display and performance is something which gets lots of praise from reviewers. Engadget says,

The 4.5-inch WXGA (1,280 x 768) display has the same resolution as the Lumia 920 and 925, though the 1020 uses the same AMOLED “PureMotion HD+” panel as the latter (the 920’s is LCD). And it’s certainly every bit as beautiful to behold as before. Thanks to the fact that the blacks in the screen are nearly indistinguishable from the bezel, the display itself feels a bit more expansive than normal. The viewing angles are incredibly wide; the screen is easy to see in direct sunlight; and the colors pop without overdoing it on the saturation.

According to the Verge,

Everything that it can do, the Lumia 1020 does pretty well. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip clocked at 1.5GHz, along with 2GB of RAM, but one of Windows Phone 8’s great strengths is that it doesn’t need superlative hardware to run well. Indeed the 1020 is impressively smooth and fast — apps open and switch quickly, scrolling and swiping are buttery, and only the Pro Cam app ever caused the phone to lag or crash.

So, seems Lumia 1020 has left quite an impression on reviewers as expected. The new “Nokia ProCam” has also been hailed as amazing UI for such capable camera and if there are any minor bugs they can be sorted out easily with future software updates and Nokia is more than prompt in doing that :).

We will keep this article updated with more reviews. Keep visiting!!
