Kantar Worldpanel’s smartphones sales share report for 3 months ending June 2015 is available now and it looks quite interesting. Having a look at the sales share chart above one can easily make out that Windows Phone sales share has grown in UK, Germany and Italy on a Month on Month basis. Check the last Month figures by clicking here. But more interestingly, if we include Russia’s figure, Windows Phone has more than 10% sales share in UK, Germany, Italy & Russia. In Italy, Windows Phone beats iOS in terms of sales share, while in case of Germany and Russia it is a close fight.
Australia is another market where Windows Phone has grown its sales share MOM, while in US it has seen a decline. The EU5 figures however look wrong and Kantar may need to correct it.
With Microsoft focusing more in near future on high-end (Lumia 940 & Lumia 940 XL) and upper mid-range devices (Lumia 840), a complete portfolio of Lumia offerings will be there in October / November. There are enough compelling low-end and lower mid-range Lumias in market, so we can see a volume growth once new devices come and Windows 10 Mobile update roll-out takes place.
