The latest FIH earnings report has revealed some details about the difficulties that HMD Global has to face in the first half of 2019 due to an impending supply chain disruption. The report also reveals how HMD overcame these issues to forge a new and stronger supply chain with multi-ODM strategy and moving closer to customers in the value chain.
So, as one can read in the screenshot above HMD has been lauded for expanding its supply chain without disrupting business in the face of its supply chain partner TNS closing its business.
And now after weathering the storm, HMD is predicting a growth in its phone and smartphone business in the second half of 2019.
The report also reveals that HMD switched to multi-ODM set up in the month of May and the launch of Nokia 2.2, 3.2, 4.2 have been done with the help of two new ODMs.
The good news is that HMD was still able to deliver a market share growth for Nokia smartphones in Q2 2019 even after facing such a big supply chain issue. Hopefully, with future launches, this momentum will only improve and we already have a big launch event scheduled on September 5.
Thanks Abhi & Sara for sharing the report. Cheers!!
