Google while making Android Oreo official announced that Nokia Android Phones will get Oreo update by end of the year 2017. But the announcement was bit ambiguous talking about upgrade/launch to Oreo for many manufacturers.
Now, we have the information from Horse’s mouth. Chief Product Officer, HMD Global. Juho has confirmed that all Nokia Android smartphone including Nokia 3 will get Android Oreo. He didn’t comment on the update release timings yet but we can sort of confirm that HMD is planning Oreo roll-out by end of year.
All of our smartphones will upgrade to Oreo, Nokia 3 included. No comments yet on timing so that I don't get into trouble 😊.

HMD had earlier confirmed Android Oreo roll-out to Nokia Android smartphones in an official statement given to us. HMD had also made it clear that all Nokia Android Phones will receive minimum two years of OS update support, thereby confirming Android P update also coming to the current generation of Nokia smartphones.
