We informed you sometime back about Compal receiving order from Nokia for the first time for a WP8 device. It was supposed to produce 3 million units for that new device. It was also revealed that Nokia will unveil one low-end and one mid-range device soon after Lumia 1020 launch.
Now we have just seen Lumia 625 getting confirmed through Chinese certification.

So, it is Digitimes again revealing from sources that the new WP8 smartphone outsourced to Compal is none other than Lumia 625.
With regard to smartphone, Nokia is scheduled to launch a new Windows 8-based model, the Lumia 625, in the third quarter of 2013 after just unveiling its top-end Lumia 1020, indicated the sources. The Lumia 625, which is outsourced to Compal Communications, will come with a 4.7-inch display and is powered by a Qualcomm 1.2GHz dual-core processor. The model will be priced at US320, targeting the mid-range smartphone segment, revealed the sources.
It will be priced at USD 320 according to the report, targeting the mid-range. So, if it is mid-range then what is coming as low-end? May be the dual-sim Lumia!!
The report from Digitimes also claims that Nokia will release more smartphone and Featurephone orders to Taiwan based ODMs in a bid to focus on its product offering and improve product competitiveness. That’s certainly a welcome step to decrease production cost and increase margins of Featurephones and smartphones!!
