Microsoft yesterday released Windows 10 Desktop version of Build 14316 and deferred the Mobile build due to a Cellular Data bug. Now, the Build 14316 brings lots of new features and changes that also enhances interaction between Windows 10 phones and PC. You can read the full official changelog by clicking here. The Build also bring one Continuum for Phones enhancement that allows Continuum enabled phones like Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL to connect to Windows 10 Build 14316 running PCs without a Dock or Wireless Adapter.
All you need to do is open the “Connect” app on PC. Open the Continuum app on our Phone and try connecting to PC and follow the instructions shown in connect app and you are done. The feature however is in early preview phase and should get better in upcoming builds.
Using the new Connect app, you can bring the Continuum experience from your phone (a Continuum-enabled Windows 10 phone is required) to the PC without needing a dock or Miracast adapter. Additionally, it also allows other Miracast-enabled PCs to project to other PCs without needing a dock or Miracast adapter as well. The Connect app will mention the ability to use a USB cable to connect to your PC however this is a bug and the app only supports wireless connections on PCs. This is an early preview of this feature – we have more work coming to make the experience even better.
