With the Nokia 2.3 launch, HMD has drastically reduced its product launch cycle time matching its competitors from China. Now, we hear HMD is going to follow the same and may bring an even cheaper 5G smartphone than Nokia 8.3 in Nokia 7.3, the Nokia 7.2 successor.
Prototypes are already in testing for Nokia 7.3 and one of them has 5G support, report our sources. HMD plans to aggressively capture the mid-range market with Nokia 7.3 once it has addressed the value flagship space with Nokia 8.3.
Nokia 8.3 may be launched on March 19 powered by Snapdragon 765 and Nokia 7.3 may be planned to hit the market in late Q2 2020, if all goes well with the testing.
However, there is one more prototype that doesn’t have 5G support yet is considered to belong to the same smartphone, as the design and other specifications including the camera specs confirm. So, perhaps HMD is keeping its options open and maybe evaluating 4G/5G versions of the same smartphone.
We also hear that HMD may be planning to reduce the sheer number of smartphones and shrink the range to focus on the best offerings in broad price ranges. We will share more on this later.
