Window 10 for Phones may bring Bluetooth Keyboard support, reveal screenshots

Windows 10 8.15These screenshots were leaked earlier but we could notice one new feature revealed by these screenshots now. IF you check the third screenshot with “quick action buttons expanded” you can notice some thing called “Device Discovery”. Now, check the second screenshot that shows “Devices” in the settings. The Devices has “Bluetooth, Keyboard” under the description.

So, it seems the device discovery will be a quick action button enabling which will allow the Window Phone device running “Window 10” to connect to Bluetooth devices and even Keyboards. Though if we just focus on the “Keyboard”, one more keyboard support (USB) comes to mind. Will the USB OTG support will be there?

Windows 10 Desktop comes with support for wide range of keyboards and underlying OS being the same, Window 10 for Phones may bring much better connectivity options than Window Phone 8.1.

You can read all the Window 10 for Phones details from all the leaks and official changelog in one place here.

Device Discovery appears to be the Project My Screen/Share My Screen/Connect function that is in Windows 8.1/10.

nopes, it is like “connect” button on Window 10 for Desktop Build 9926 and it exactly does the same: discover and connect to devices 🙂

      • Demitrius Harris

        In my comment, I said Connect/Windows 10.

        • Kamal

Just that, you gave three options to chose from and I tried to be exact.

          • Demitrius Harris

The Connect option in Windows 10 Build 9926 is the same function as the screen sharing option under Share in Windows 8/8.1 and also the same as the Project option in the Action Center on Windows Phone 8.1 with the same exact icon as well.

They perform the same function on each OS and the major consumer facing change is the name from Project/Project My Screen/Share to Connect/Device Discovery.

I listed the 3 former names as not everyone uses Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9926 on their computer or Windows 10 Mobile Technical Preview for their phones and they may not know that Connect is simply the new version of what they may already have on their computer or phone.

If you pin Project My Screen to the action center on your Windows Phone 8.1 device, you will see it functions the same and has the same icon as Device Discovery.

I was just using Connect on Windows 10 on my Dell Venue 8 Pro to connect to a Projector via the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter and then I connected my Lumia 1520 and Nexus 5 as well.

This is the same exact thing that I was doing with my Dell Venue 8 Pro when it was running Windows 8.1
