We had reported it earlier that Nokia 8 with some tweaks will be launched in US market and even a Nokia 8 page was available at Nokia US site. Later a note reportedly from Rex Fryhover, head of sales, HMD US confirmed a change in HMD’s plans and shelved any plans to bring Nokia 8 to the US.
What confirms this change in plans is the fact that the Nokia 8 page has now disappeared from the Nokia Phones US site. If you check now you will only find Nokia 6 on the site. Though if you check the support page Nokia 8 User guide is still there confirming that Nokia was actually planned for US market.
Now, coming to what is HMD planning for US market?? We hear that HMD will not have too many Android Phones in its portfolio for the USA and will rather target only few price points. So, Nokia 6 is there and it will be followed by Nokia 9. But plans like these keep changing with the feedback from sales & marketing teams as is evident in the scrapping of Nokia 8 plans.
Nokia 9 Details:
As per the leaked images and a leaked display panel, Nokia 9 will sport an edge to edge 3D glass display and a virtually bezel-less design. We have heard from our sources that Nokia 9 will come with 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB ROM, IP68 certification and may probably feature an Iris scanner. The above image also possibly confirms a fingerprint scanner on the back just below the camera.
As per a tip received by us earlier, Nokia 9 may be price around EUR 749 in European markets. You can read all that we know about Nokia 9 at our dedicated Nokia 9 page.
