Samsung Galaxy S22 owners may have a reason to stay optimistic. While recent One UI 8.5 eligibility lists appeared to leave out some older Galaxy flagships, new evidence suggests Samsung could still be preparing the update for devices beyond the originally expected lineup — including the Galaxy S22 series.
As Samsung continues expanding One UI 8.5 to more Galaxy smartphones, fresh clues from community discussions have reignited hopes that the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra may not be left behind after all.
New clues emerge from Galaxy S22 & S21 FE eligibility discussions & screenshots
The latest development comes from discussions within the Samsung community and Reddit. A user posted screenshot showing the Galaxy S22 confirmed to get One UI 8.5 by Samsung support on Samsung community. On Reddit, a screenshot shows One UI 8.5 in servers ready state for Galaxy S22 series and pending for Galaxy S2 FE as well.
The Reddit screenshot quickly gained attention because Samsung had not officially confirmed the Galaxy S21 FE’s eligibility status for One UI 8.5. A Reddit thread discussing the screenshot claims Samsung may internally consider the device eligible despite earlier uncertainty.
If that information proves accurate, it could have wider implications for Samsung’s older flagship devices.
Since the Galaxy S22 series launched after the Galaxy S21 FE and sits higher in Samsung’s flagship lineup, many users believe it would be unusual for Samsung to extend One UI 8.5 support to the S21 FE while excluding the Galaxy S22 family altogether.
Galaxy S22 could still fit Samsung’s update strategy
Samsung has already been expanding the One UI 8.5 beta and stable rollout to more Galaxy devices beyond its newest flagship lineup.
The company recently widened One UI 8.5 availability to several Galaxy smartphones and tablets, signaling that Samsung intends to bring the update to a broader range of devices over time.

Samsung’s update strategy in recent years has also become increasingly generous toward flagship devices, making it difficult to completely rule out the Galaxy S22 series at this stage.

- Expanded Galaxy AI experiences

Nothing official yet, but hopes are growing
To be clear, Samsung has not officially announced One UI 8.5 eligibility for the Galaxy S22 series or Galaxy S21 FE at the time of writing.
The current evidence comes from community findings and screenshots rather than an official Samsung roadmap. However, if the Galaxy S21 FE is indeed marked as eligible internally, it significantly strengthens the case for the Galaxy S22 lineup receiving the update as well.
Until Samsung publishes a final eligibility list, Galaxy S22 users may still have a good reason to remain hopeful.
With One UI 8.5 continuing to expand to more Galaxy devices, the Galaxy S22 series could ultimately end up joining the rollout after all.
