Official Windows 10 Mobile eligible devices list has batches of devices receiving the update

Hands-on Build 10586.11

Microsoft was expected to begin the roll out of Windows 10 Mobile OTA update to existing Windows Phone 8.1 devices, including Lumia and HTC devices this month but they fail to reach there target. However in a statement software giant confirms that Windows 10 Mobile update will begin rolling out to selected devices starting early next year.

I assume the batch #4 means ‘not announced’ yet, this is why it is the last group.

The first two batches (ie. #1 & #2) could refer to the priority of the upgrade development
and the batch #3 could refer to the group of devices not to be upgraded at all.

I own a Lumia 820, I am running W10m on it, and I am quite surprised to see it included in the group #3,
whatever should this mean (if not upgrade release priority).
I could also strongly doubt on the list’s origin and meaning
however the link straight from Microsoft beats me hands down.

I only recall the Lumia 820 is already included in the W10m Insider program
and I know that the Lumia 820 meets adequately the W10m minimum specs.

  • MT1705

820 to be left behind !!!!! though it did not sell as well as other did but still it was one a good device to own..

  • FeMeKi

Some of this list looks inaccurate. many of the Blu devices that are on the ”Never” batch have already been confirmed to get windows 10 mobile. Also very surprised to see Windows phone 7 devices on these lists.

  • Viktor

HTC 8X and Lancet are officially in W10 preview program.
    Madosma is already W10M device
    820 – no way

It’s good to know my Lumia 950 XL will be in the first group to receive Windows 10! That is quite a relief since my phone only shipped with… um… Windows 10?

    ugh…

  • Lim Meng Seng

Assumptions? I don’t find it convincing at all. Another click bait perhaps.

    • Kamal

Never knew Microsoft needed to post click bait lists

      • Lim Meng Seng

Oh I don’t remember saying Microsoft. Never knew NPU runs under Microsoft and make assumptions with your own assessment. Interesting.

      • Lim Meng Seng

Okay, it’s an misunderstanding. Found its source. I’m very sorry!

  • sha

this is BS. 820 is the only device in the no update list which is eligible by all standards!

  • Adithya Raman

Weren’t the blu lte variants promised win10 during their promotion in India. Why are they in the “never” list?

  • Alam Hidalgo

What does “=1*” mean at the upgrade?

  • DBS

I highly doubt the 820 – which is the international version – won’t be updated to WP10 but the 822 which is a carrier version will.
If I had to bet it’ll be the other way around.

Also, what the hell would a Nokia 900 even be brought to the conversation when it never ran any version of WP? This list smells of bullcrap to me. And attempt at guessing at best

    • I own a 820. The technical preview build 10586.39 runs like a charm on my phone. It meets the minimum 8 GB internal memory requirement that Microsoft hinted at.

And I agree with you. I don’t think this is accurate. I hope it’s not.

  • Marc Vuorinen

Isn’t Phi is a codename of Lumia 920?

    • DT Bhattacharjee

      yes it is
