Nokia has appointed ex-Samsung executive Gregory Lee as the new president for its brand-licensing, Digital Health and Digital Media business arm Nokia Technologies. He will also join as a member of the Nokia Group Leadership Team.
Gregory Lee has served in Samsung for 13 years, most recently in the role of President and CEO, Samsung Electronics, North America. He also served as Samsung’s Global Chief Marketing Officer, as well as President and CEO of Samsung Electronics Southeast Asia and President and CEO of Samsung Telecommunications America.
Before his stint at Samsung, Lee worked for other brands like Johnson & Johnson, Kellogg’s and Procter & Gamble. His overall work experience is around 30 years as per the press release. Lee will report to Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri and will be based in California.
Lee’s appointment comes at a time when Nokia Technologies is in rapid expansion mode. Nokia Phones are back to market with launch of Android Phones Nokia 3, 5, 6 and the nostalgia-evoking Nokia 3310 (2017).
Nokia just announced its big foray in Digital Health after re-branding Withings product range to Nokia and adding new devices to the range.
Nokia has also recently launched Nokia OZO+ with major improvements over its original Nokia OZO camera and solution suite. The company is trying to make a mark in VR market by parterning with big names like Disney.
