If you are planning to switch to a Nokia Lumia Windows Phone, there’s no need to worry about losing important personal information and files on your current Nokia phone. You can easily transfer important content from your current Nokia phone to the new Nokia Lumia phone.
To do this, first use Nokia Suite to copy your contacts, calendar items, and photos to the SkyDrive online service. Then the content can be automatically updated to your Nokia Lumia Windows Phone. With SkyDrive you get free storage space for photos and other files on the internet. You have access to the files on your computer and on your phone and can easily view and manage the files.
To start copying your contacts, calendar items, and photos to SkyDrive, choose Tools > Upload to SkyDrive.
Good to know before you start copying content to SkyDrive:
If you have been using SkyDrive before and have a Microsoft account, you are asked to sign into your account. Or, you can be a new user in which case you are asked to create a Microsoft account. Note that you have to create your Microsoft account on your Nokia Lumia phone to get all your contacts copied to the Nokia Lumia phone. You can choose if you want to copy contacts, calendar items, or photos, or all three types of content. The content you choose is copied from your connected phone. You see a summary of how many contacts, calendar items, and photos were copied to SkyDrive. To finish, sign into your Microsoft account from your Nokia Lumia phone. The copied content is then automatically updated to your phone.
