Nokia smartphones leaders in Software updates & Build quality Trust rankings, reveals Counterpoint Research report

Counterpoint research has released its annual whitepaper on Phones’ “Trust rankings” which are based on Software, Security Updates and Build Quality. Great news is that Nokia Phones come out on top as leaders in both providing fastest software and security updates and also in terms of build quality.

These are the major findings of this research. Nokia phones have achieved this feat second time in a row now.

Counterpoint Research trust rankings are based on four pillars: software, security, build quality, and enterprise-recommended devices.

  • This is the second successive year where Nokia phones lead the global rankings in providing the fastest software and security updates with the highest share of portfolio recommended for enterprises.
  • Nokia phones lead across the price tiers in providing the fastest software and security updates; Nokia phones are also joint first in providing the latest software updates across their portfolio.
  • Nokia phones also lead in build quality by applying tougher tests than the industry average.

Below graphics reveal how the different Android smartphone brands are stacked up against each other in terms of software updates and build quality. 20 Nokia smartphones were updated to Android 10 giving a 100% update rate.

The study also confirmed that Nokia smartphones are subjected to tougher tests than the industry average.

We found that Nokia phones undergo tougher tests than the industry average. We therefore concluded that, when considered alongside the faster software and security updates the strong build quality means Nokia phones will last the test of time which is increasingly important at a time when global device replacement cycles are getting longer, now approaching 30 months.”
