It must be music to Nokia’s ears !! Latest Kantar Worldpanel reports says that “Nokia is seeing turnaround in UK”  with its smartphone sales share at 6.2% and actual sales growing by over 50% compared with last year. Even the “Windows Phone” has grown hugely in UK and Italy, which is obviously dominated by Lumia’s growth again. Windows Phone has sales shares hitting 5.9% and 13.9% respectively in UK and Italy – up from just 2.2% and 2.8% a year ago. If you take sales shares of EU5 into consideration then it looks like Windows Phone has grown strongly from 2.6% to 5.4%. The data in consideration here is for 12 weeks ending 23rd December.

Though according to Kantar Worldpanel, US and China don’t present such pretty pictures. And there is nothing to be surprised here!! With Lumia 920 at just one operator in USA, supply constraints and late December launch of Lumia 920 in China, it hardly can be expected to make much difference for such massive markets. With Verizon and T-Mobile getting High-end and Low-end devices and supplies being more consistent in China will certainly make the difference in Q1 2012 and going ahead.
