Seems, Nokia has manage to emerged as overall mobile phone leader yet again in India. According to CMR’s latest India Monthly Mobile Handsets Market Review for the period of January-April 2013, Nokia has been placed on the top with 20% market share during this period, India registered 73.5 million mobile handset shipments with a growth of 11.1% year-on-year. During the same period, 9.4 million smartphones were shipped in the country, a growth of 167.3% on an annual basis.

Though, talking about only smartphones, Nokia has still not figured in top 3 smartphone manufacturers in India according to the report. But, it will be interesting to see this report going ahead, as Lumia 520, 620, 720’s sales momentum may bring Nokia in reckoning when this report includes April-June sales.

Anyways, good to see Nokia maintaining its base in India. This strategy will help them in converting many willing loyal customers from feature phone to Asha or Lumia smartphones going ahead.
