Nokia Mobile smartphones X-series, G-series & C-series naming & Key differences explained

Nokia Mobile made its new product lineup official at the launch event yesterday. New Nokia smartphones will be categorized in three baskets or product series: Nokia X-series, Nokia G-series and Nokia C-series depending upon the kind of experience they are expected to deliver.

The below infographic tries to explain the key differences between the three series. Nokia X-series is the premium experience category of Nokia smartphones. It will be the series in which we can expect Nokia value flagships and full-fledged flagships along with higher-end mid-rangers.

Nokia X10 and Nokia X20 show that while processor-wise these smartphones may not feature the most powerful ones, cameras and displays may certainly be strong point. Cameras will have Zeiss optics and display may also be expected to be of high-resolution and quality. Nokia Mobile will try to showcase its strongest suite of software tweaks in X-series smartphones.

Nokia X-series smartphones will also have very good battery life and will be supported by three years OS and security updates.

Nokia G-series will be the one destined to fight competition in price-sensitive markets, where users want a high-specs smartphones for less. Just for the sake of comparison Nokia X10 is priced EUR 309 while Nokia G20 is priced at EUR 159 only. These mid-ranger smartphones will also feature high-megapixel cameras but without Zeiss optics.

Excellent battery life may be another talking point of these smartphones. The G-series Nokia smartphones will be supported by 2-years of OS and 3-years of security updates.

Nokia C-series will feature entry-level smartphones targeted at first-time smartphone buyers. This is a big change and it may seem that HMD Global is done with the likes of Nokia 1.4 and Nokia 2.4.

Smartphones under C-series seem to be priced less than EUR 90 and these should be one of the cheapest smartphones out there from a known brand. These smartphones will feature all-day battery life and 2-years of security updates only. There is no promised OS upgrade.
