HMD last week confirmed that Nokia 6 in India will get Android Oreo Beta very soon as a fix for the update issue has been found. Now we have a slightly more concrete timeline to look forward to. As per a recent tweet fro Juho Sarvikas Nokia 6 in India will get Android Oreo Beta in the first week of 2018.
This is why I shouldn't give hard dates. We have a couple of improvements that we still want to bring in to the Beta Labs release for Nokia 6 in India since we likely will do just one round before releasing the official Oreo. Think 1st wk of the year, almost ship ready maturity.

As per the tweet from Juho, HMD will now do only one round of testing of Android Oreo Beta on Nokia 6 before the final Oreo update release. So, they wanted to add a couple of improvements to the Beta build before releasing it to all Nokia 6 inlcuding users in India enrolled in Beta.
He also claims a ship-ready maturity which means the latest Android Oreo Beta build for Nokia 6 is quite stable and may be very close to the final Oreo update release.
If you live in US, China, and Taiwan your Nokia 6 will not receive Android Oreo Beta update and will only get the final Oreo release.
