HMD yesterday announced release of the Android Pie Beta build as the stable release for Nokia 8 users. There was some confusion with regards to the language of the communication sent by HMD to Beta Lab testers, however, as it talked about Beta testers getting next build only after a patch update.
Now, it seems that HMD released the Beta build as the stable one based on the feedback it got from users. So, now the next build will bring features like Adaptive Battery and will also address the other feedback received from testers.
Hi Cadenzza! Quality of the betalabs build was good so we are rolling it out as commmercial release now. We will do a subsequent release and introduce new features and address other feedback that we got. This immediate step is to simply get more people on š„§

This may also mean that Beta testers will not receive the Android Pie stable update now because it is the same build with only “Feedback app” added. The next Android Pie build for Nokia 8 will be available forĀ both Beta testers and non-testers perhaps after the January patch update.
Currently features like Adaptive Battery, Digital Wellbeing and Gesture navigation are not available on Nokia 8 running Pie, but the January Pie build should address this as per above tweet by Juho. Since stable build remains same as the Beta build you can watch our hands-on with the Android Pie on Nokia 8 here.
