A recent tip from one of our trusted tipsters claim that it is T-Mobile bound Lumia 1520 variant which will have inbuilt wireless charging and not the global one. Also, according to the tip,
RM-937 is Global variant
RM-938 is T-Mobile variant
RM-940 is AT&T variant
RM-939 is China Unicom variant
We are not sure about RM-938 being T-Mobile variant, as we didn’t hear about a T-Mobile variant coming so soon. So, may be RM-938 is the global variant with inbuilt wireless charging as was revealed by FCC certification.
Difference between RM-938 and RM-940 is that DTM feature and WCDM1700/2100 (Band 4) will be disabled from RM-940, and RM-940 will GPRS support multi-slot class 10. In the testing reported here multi-slot class 12 has been available as worst case in all the samples. Additionally, difference between RM-940 and RM-938 is that RM-940 has only Wireless Charging interface pins in the backcover, while RM-938 has built-in Wireless Charging (WPC/Qi) loop. This HW difference was tested according to FCC KDB 648474 D03 Wireless Chargers Battery Cover V01R02
Though WCDMA frequencies mentioned in FCC certification belong to T-Mobile in US, but can Nokia bring a T-Mobile variant with extra features over AT&T / Global one. I don’t see many past precedents, so still will go with “Gobal variant with in-built wireless charging” theory, but frankly speaking I am not sure anymore. What do you think?
