Microsoft has received a patent for a new type of foldable mobile computing device. The patent issued on 10th January, 2017, describes a device with a flexible display which is in turn supported by a flexible hinge structure.

In today’s world, there are a versatile no of mobile computing gadgets which might be found in an assortment of shape elements, for example, a tablet, a portable specialized gadget such as a phone etc. As these frame variables are upgraded with each passing day, a size of the gadget turns into a primary thought in its plan and usage and additionally in a decision made by a buyer as to which gadget to buy.

A user, for example, may buy a device with an average-sized display to make phone calls, text, and so on. If he/she decides to, can also buy a device with a slightly bigger screen for entertainment, group video calling and so on.

Additionally, another form factor developed that represents a compromise between these form factors, is a “phablet”, that may have decreased mobility due to an increase in size of a display device.

As such, conventional mobile computing device form factors often forces a user to make a choice regarding a form factor that may involve a compromise between these form factors (e.g., a “phablet”), purchase of multiple devices, and so on.
