Lava International has now joined hands with HMD Global to manufacture Nokia smartphones in India. In fact it has already started manufacturing Nokia smartphones in India.
Reports also suggest that Lava wants to join forces with HMD Global on Supply Chain front too. HMD Global is selling only made-in-India Nokia smartphones in India and a partnership with Lava may be a step in right direction.
Lava once a leading phone brand and currently second biggest manufacturer in India has succumbed to Chinese manufacturers’ onslaught like other homegrown phone brands. It now seems that Nokia phones and smartphones can get a quality manufacturing setup in India thanks to Lava’s enhanced production capacity.
Lava claims to have a production capacity to 30 million smartphones and 45 million feature phones. It is also in talks with other brands like Motorola for similar agreements.
