HMD teases “good show” for Nokia Phones at MWC 2018

HMD has launched an imposing range of Nokia smartphones and features phones over the last 11-12 months. In fact, they have nearly launched one new phone every month and don’t plan to cool down in near future, was told to us by the HMD CPO Juho Sarvikas.

Now, Juho has confirmed that HMD will attend the MWC 2018 and has also teased Nokia fans by saying that HMD will put its best effort in to ensure a good show at the event.

Interestingly this reply has come in response to a question about possible new phone launch at MWC 2018.  HMD launched Nokia 3, 5, 6 and 3310 at MWC 2017, so the MWC 2018 will be the right place to talk about or launch something big.

What do you think?? For your information, the MWC 2018 event will be held from Feb 26 to March 1 in Barcelona.

Would like to see a new version of Nokia 8 with good screen ratio and jack!

Honestly that is wonderful news that means the likelyhood of the Nokia 9 coming with Snapdragon 845 just got a lot better, which means we wont be buying almost 1 year old tech when we get the Nokia 9.

Imagine Nokia 9 vs S9 same specs but 100-150 USD cheaper, that would be a showstopper.

This suggests that we will get overdue iron on MWC 2018

      • rattown

Not sure what you mean by overdue Iron, the Nokia 8 is a very decent flagship phone for this year, releasing a phone that will kill the sales of the Nokia 8 seems kind of silly at this point.

It has flagship ram and flagship processing, the only thing its missing is an over the top nokia camera and an amoled screen.

Nokia 9 should be a true flagship and compete with the other MWC android phones from samsung, sony and HTC.

Since Samsung bought the entire first batch of 845, the first smartphone with this processor will appear not earlier than mid-spring! So it was this year, so it will be next! Nokia 8 is not a flagship, it’s a budget flagship, it can be compared with Nokia 830 the range of Lumia ie is flagship budget! Edition Nokia 9 will not affect the sale of Nokia 8 as they have very different prices: 599 euros against 750. They are in different categories! In the end, the deficit 845 processors will lead to the fact that we will see at MWC Nokia 9 with 835 Snap! This is obviously a failure. And not only so: it turns out that users and fans of Nokia, there is nothing to buy in medium and high category of devices in the period of hot Christmas sales! This segment in the HMD devices is simply not available(Nokia 7 and 9 and is not represented)!

But you have repeatedly wrote about the launch of Nokia 7 and Nokia 9 in this year! Those plans changed?

    • Kamal

It will be clear by end of November itself. Though retails sources do talk about change in plans.

      • 777sasha3331

Probably this decision will severely undermine the sales of Nokia smartphones in the new year period! And what sources say in retail? The announcement will be moved to the MWC?
