While HMD aka Nokia Mobile hasn’t brought successor to Nokia 9 PureView yet, it remains non-committal on a future flagship as well. Qualcomm, while unveiling its flagship smartphone processor Snapdragon 888 revealed a list of vendors already committed to bring a flagship smartphone running Snapdragon 888.
As mentioned in Qualcomm’s press release.
The following OEMs provided their support for Snapdragon 888, including ASUS, Black Shark, Lenovo, LG, MEIZU, Motorola, Nubia, realme, OnePlus, OPPO, Sharp, vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.
The list includes Sony as well as is mentioned in the press release.
As one can easily notice the name of HMD Global is missing from this list. HMD was very upfront in confirming Nokia smartphones running Snapdragon 765 and 690 processors.
So, unless HMD comments otherwise it seems difficult to expect a flagship Nokia smartphone powered by Snapdragon 888. This is unfortunate given the interest in a Nokia smartphone flagship with ultimate hardware.
