HMD is again joining hands with Pixelworks, a leading provider of power efficient visual processing solutions. Together with Pixelworks, HMD has promised to bring a high-quality display and video performance to future Nokia smartphones.
The duo had previously worked on the PureDisplay project together and as a result, Nokia 7.1 became the first ever smartphone that sports the PureDisplay branding. That was Pixelworks’ visual processor in action. The new partnership is all about to make the PureDisplay experience better and bring it to more and more Nokia smartphones or at least that’s the intention.
“As mobile becomes the go-to destination for content viewing, consumers worldwide seek a premium display and video performance. We’ve been delighted by the response to Nokia 7.1 from our fans. The PureDisplay with Pixelworks technology was a significant part of our promise. Superior HDR tone mapping enables cinematic viewing experience when viewing HDR 10 videos or pictures, real-time SDR to HDR conversion technology for an Always HDR experience and local contrast and sharpness enhancement for better viewing experience in all lighting conditions elevates the viewing experience on the Nokia 7.1. We are pleased to continue working with Pixelworks and look forward to bringing this experience to future Nokia smartphones.” said Juho Sarvikas, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer.
We expect the technology to hit the entry-level Nokia smartphones. Now, what device wins the race of having this Advanced Visual Processing Solutions would be something that we all would look forward to.
