Pekka Rentala

HMD CMO Pekka Rantala has decided to separate ways from the company, it seems. While HMD has yet to send a press communication out in this regard, ePass, a mobile payments company has informed in its press release in Finland that Pekka Rantala will join it as the CEO and one of its owner starting October 2019.

Pekka started as an Export Manager for Nokia Mobile Phones in Africa in the early 1990s. Pekka left Nokia as the worldwide leader of Global marketing. Prior to that, Pekka was leading Nokia’s business in Europe. Before joining HMD, Pekka Rantala was the CEO of Rovio Entertainment.

In the press release sent by ePass, Pekka has mentioned his interest in entrepreneurship as the reason for joining ePass and leaving HMD job. HMD hasn’t really impressed Nokia fans with its marketing strategy and with a change in leadership hope things change for better.

Thanks, Januk for the tip. Cheers!!
