If you own a Google Pixel, it’s time to head to your settings menu. Google has officially begun rolling out the April 2026 software update for supported Pixel phones.

While last month’s massive Quarterly Feature Drop grabbed all the headlines, this April release focuses on essential refinements, critical security patches, and the type of under-the-hood optimization that keeps your device running smoothly.

Here is everything you need to know about the latest patch, which devices are supported, and how to get it.

What’s New in the April 2026 Patch?

This update may appear small, but it is mighty. Coming immediately after a major feature overhaul, the April update is designed to “polish” the new functionalities added last month.

Here are the key highlights of the official changelog for the April 1, 2026 Patch Level:

1. Essential Security Bulletin

As always, the priority is protection. Google has patched several vulnerabilities within the Android Framework and the Tensor kernel components. Keeping your security patch level up-to-date is the single best way to protect your data from modern threats.

2. Battery Drain & Thermal Fixes

Many users on Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 devices reported slight battery drain issues following the March update. Google has addressed a background process conflict within the Tensor G5 and Tensor G6 management systems. Users should notice a return to normal battery endurance and a cooler-running device during multitasking.

3. Smoothness Optimization for Pixel Fold 2 & Tablet

Specific functional patches are included to improve the smooth transition between the inner and outer displays on the Pixel Fold 2. Additionally, the Pixel Tablet receives refinements to taskbar responsiveness when docked.

4. Bluetooth Connection Stability

A generic fix has been deployed to resolve an intermittent issue where some Pixel models were dropping connections to LE (Low Energy) Bluetooth devices, such as smartwatches and heart rate monitors.

Which Devices are Supported?

This update is rolling out over-the-air (OTA) to all active, supported Pixel devices. Following Google’s 2023 commitment to seven years of updates for newer models, the compatibility list is extensive.

The following devices are receiving the April 2026 update:

  • Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold

  • Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold

  • Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a

  • Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a

  • Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a (Note: The Pixel 6 series is nearing the end of its guaranteed OS update window, but continues to receive security patches.)

  • Pixel Tablet

How to Get the Update

The update rolls out gradually. However, you can manually “pull” the update immediately by following these steps:

  1. Open your device’s Settings app.

  2. Tap System.

  3. Tap Software updates.

  4. Tap System update.

  5. Tap the Check for update button in the bottom right corner.

Ensure you have at least 50% battery life or are connected to a charger, and are using a Wi-Fi connection for the download.
